Today we'll continue operating on fractions and then we'll apply some of the skills you've been working on in chapter 1. Today's lessons are covered on pages 41-54 in the Engaging Algebra textbook.
1.7 Adding and Subtracting Fractions
Many students have been taught to add and subtract fractions using "tricks". Unfortunately, the tricks that work with arithmetic don't transfer to algebra. After successfully completing this work you'll be able to find the Least Common Denominator (LCD) and build equivalent fractions using the same thought process you'll need for algebra courses beyond introductory algebra.
1.8 Applying the Order of Operations
After completing this work you'll be able to evaluate algebraic expressions.
