As you might suspect, you can only add or subtract square root terms that are "like".  With square roots "like" means the radicands are a perfect match.  It's common for square root terms to not look alike until after you've simplified each term.  In the first set of videos you'll use your previous work to simplify square root terms and then you'll add and subtract any like terms.  In the second set of videos you'll distribute first and then add and subtract radical terms.  This material is covered on pages 281 through 290 in the Engaging Algebra textbook.
