Today we move beyond adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing and begin working with powers. In 4.1 we'll discuss exponentiation and practice the order of operations with powers. In 4.2 you'll practice applying powers. This is pages 169 through 178 in the Engaging Algebra textbook.
4.1 An Introduction to Exponentiation
After working with these videos, you will know the difference between an exponent and a power and you'll be able to use the order of operations to simplify expressions that have powers.
4.2 Applying Powers
After your work in 4.2 you will know how to check your answer to a quadratic equation, find the value of a discriminant and evaluate a quadratic function.
